| Our Car Enthusiasts group meets for lunch on the third Tuesday of each month at Sams Place Restaurant, 1545 South Novato Blvd., Novato. Meetings begin at 11:30 AM. If you enjoy automobile (or motorcycle) related activities, automotive memorabilia, car collections/museums, etc., the car enthusiast group is for you. Spouses and guests are always welcome. | |
| SIRS VISIT THE WORLD WAR II VEHICLE MUSEUM October 26th, 2024 Fifty-three SIR’s, spouses, and friends recently visited Joe Garbarino’s “World War II Vehicle Museum – The Rolling Museum of Freedom”. Located in San Rafael the museum houses everything from a 1944 Sherman tank to a mobile rocket launcher. With over 50 vehicles on display including tanks, jeeps, half-tracks, motorcycles, and artillery there’s enough in the collection to supply a small army. Also on display is an assortment of rare World War II posters, photographs, and uniforms. All equipment and vehicles have been fully restored and are in perfect running condition. We enjoyed talking with Joe Garbarino who, at age 91, still presides over the museum. He reminded us of its purpose, which is to honor the veterans who served in harm’s way during WW II, Korea, Vietnam, and other conflicts……as well as to honor the heroes who never made it home. |

| On Monday May 13, 2024, Sheldon Doing invited our Sir Car Enthusiast group to visit his eclectic museum of old cars, motorcycles, toys and memorabilia of 19th and 20th century in downtown San Rafael. Sheldon appears to be an independent investor that acquires and can repair anything in these two rooms of about 10,000 square feet. There were about 25 of us that most enjoyed watching him play a few old carnival organs and hearing the stories that went with acquiring some of these items. | ||
