The hiking group meets on Thursdays. Hikes typically are 4 to 5 miles on average; so, there are some longer and some shorter. Many are flat, but some may have an elevation change which means there could be some hills to climb. A leader is responsible for sending a notification to all the branch members who have expressed an interest in hiking. An e-mail is sent from the Branch 47 website at the beginning of the week stating who the leader is, where the hike is going, approximately how long it is, where the meeting place is, and where we will be going to lunch afterward. Ideally, we have a different leader weekly. Jake Solomon leads the first Thursday and Charlie Panfely is the leader for the third Thursday. Currently, there are no leaders for the second, fourth, and fifth Thursdays. Any hikers interested in filling the leaderless weeks should contact Jake Solomon.
